AHEAD of Yuletide celebrations, Ogun State TRACE don warn individuals, event planners, associations, corporate and religious organisations make dem no block or obstruct roads during and after festive periods. TRACE Spokesperson, Babatunde Akinbiyi, talk say di warning na because some people, community groups, street revellers and social or religious event organisers dey ignore other road users, dey cause serious gridlock wey dey make life hard for motorists. He stress say major and inner streets belong to public and no person or group get right to turn dem into party, meeting or recreation spots. “Nobody, association, social or religious body get right to block streets. E go affect movement of vehicles and people, dey cause wahala for motorists, residents, and others,” he add.
TRACE don also direct owners of event centres, lounges and clubs, especially for Ijebu-Ode, Abeokuta, Sagamu, Ota, Ifo, Akute, Mowe-Ibafo, Ikenne and nearby areas, make dem arrange proper parking for their customers. Agency warn say establishments wey guests dey always spill onto main roads go face strict enforcement, heavy fines, and possible closure. Akinbiyi talk say TRACE go increase surveillance, enhance visibility, and manage traffic to prevent road obstruction, illegal parking, and other traffic wahala. He appeal to residents and organisers to act responsibly, get proper approvals, arrange logistics, and cooperate with TRACE to ensure safe and congestion-free festive season.
