ASUU Warn FG – No Delay Our Negotiation

ASUU NEC don yarn say dem dey worry over how di Federal Government dey waka slow for di ongoing renegotiation, warn say di matter fit get serious wahala for di education sector. Di union NEC wey meet for Taraba State University, Jalingo on November 8–9, 2025, tok say di government dey waka slow and no dey serious for di renegotiation talks. Di union remember say for dia emergency session on October 21, 2025, dem don suspend warning strike for good faith, even though government offer no too reach. Di suspension na respect for di support wey students, parents, NLC, media and other Nigerians show during di strike. But since then, di progress never impress dem, and dem dey urge government make e use di opportunity quick solve all di issues so dat pikin dem fit dey school. ASUU yarn say di government dey treat education like business, instead of as social good wey important for national development.

ASUU NEC tok say di salary increment wey government negotiators propose na “drop for ocean” and e no go fit stop brain drain wey don dey affect university system for years. Di union also condemn di way some government people dey misrepresent di talks and achievements, and warn say small gestures like part payment of promotion arrears or release of third-party deductions no suppose dey hailed as big achievement. ASUU insist say government must act seriously on salary and working conditions, use di remaining time well, and invest proper money for education. Dem point out say state governments FAAC allocation rise from ₦3.92 trillion in 2022 to ₦5.81 trillion in 2024, while federal allocations rise from ₦3.42 trillion to ₦4.65 trillion, showing say di problem no be money but political will. Di union call on traditional rulers, labour unions, students, civil society and well-meaning Nigerians to pressure government to give lecturers living wage, warn say education na di best way to protect Nigeria future.
