Cholera outbreak don kill eight people and infect over 200 for Bukkuyum district inside Zamfara State, northwest Nigeria, as residents and local officials confirm the matter on Thursday. The outbreak don spread go 11 rural communities like Nasarawa-Burkullu, Gurusu, and Adabka, and insecurity plus poor access to healthcare don make the situation worse. Cholera na water-borne disease wey dey come from dirty water and bad sanitation, and e dey always happen for Nigeria, especially for village areas and crowded urban slums. Village head of Gurusu, Muhammad Jibci, talk say many patients dey receive treatment for their house as health facilities no too plenty and they get over 21 patients admitted now, and three don die because dem no fit reach Nasarawa General Hospital on time.
One resident, Ya’u Umar, talk say 53 people for him village alone don catch the disease. “We no get medicine or drips. Bandits dey stop us from going to town,” na wetin he talk. Zamfara don dey suffer attacks from bandits wey dey kidnap people and scatter farming and market activities, and this one don block people from reaching hospital. Federal lawmaker Sulaiman Abubakar Gumi beg Zamfara government and international help groups to act fast. “If dem delay, more people go die, especially women and children,” he warn, as he call make dem bring emergency team and cholera treatment centres quick. Zamfara health officials never talk anything officially, even as people dey fear say the disease fit spread more if dem no act fast.
