Ogun State government don issue warning to people wey dey live for riverbank and wetland areas say make dem ready as Ogun River fit overflow between October 20 to November 3, 2025. Some of the areas wey go fit get wahala na Akute, Alagbole, Isheri, Magboro, Makogi, Orimerunmu, Iro, Kajola, and part of Abeokuta like Lafenwa, Enugada, Adedotun, Iberekodo, Akin-Olugbade, and Ago-Odo. Commissioner for Environment, Ola Oresanya, talk say the overflow na because of controlled water release from Oyan Dam due to heavy rain wey dey fall for up-North wey go increase water volume wey dey reach the Dam plus tidal level wey go rise. Dem warn make people dey careful to avoid loss of life and property.
Oresanya tell people wey dey riverbank make dem avoid the place for now and those wey dey wetland make dem move go higher ground or elevate their house as overflow no fit stop. E encourage dem say no reason to panic because tide go go down after about 10 days. E explain say government fit try help but nature and climate change na im cause am, especially as Ogun na one coastal state for Nigeria. Meanwhile, for Gombe State, Nigerian Red Cross dey train schools for disaster readiness especially flooding to protect pikin dem. Murtala Aliyu from Red Cross talk say the program na response to heavy flood wey affect Billiri and Yamaltu-Deba councils badly this year.
