Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago, don tell residents make dem defend themself against bandits wey dey attack plenty communities for state. Bago yarn say im administration no go ever pay ransom or negotiate with any criminal, because if dem start to pay, bandits go just continue dey kidnap people. Him talk dis one when im visit Rijau and Magama wey recent attacks happen from bandits wey dey operate from Kontagora axis. Governor talk say di state don reach critical stage wey need collective action, and say constitution give people right to protect dia life and property. E also warn say di situation don reach “state of war” wey need everybody to stand gidigba.

Bago also announce say im go recruit and train 10,000 personnel into state joint task force to improve community security and bring back peace. E yarn say illegal mining na one big wahala wey dey make insecurity grow, so im don ban all mining for Zone C wey cover Magama, Kontagora, Rijau, Wushishi, Mariga, Borgu, Mashegu, and Agwara. Im add say miners dey enter forest freely, yet bandits no dey touch dem, so NSCDC go arrest anybody wey dem catch dey do illegal mining. Governor Bago promise say im administration go continue work to end violence and restore lasting peace for Niger State.
