NELFUND Don Shut Down Loan Application For 2024/25 School Session

Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) don announce say dem don close dia loan application portal for 2024/2025 school session, starting from today (Tuesday). Dem talk say dis one mean say dia second round of application don complete, and e go help dem finish processing of pending applications and continue payment to students wey don apply. For statement wey Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi sign on Monday, NELFUND still drop timetable for next round of loan applications. Dem talk say di portal go open again by second week of October 2025 for 2025/2026 school session, and e go remain open reach January 2026. NELFUND beg schools make dem quick update dia students’ record for di Student Verification System, so students wey qualify fit apply for di new round. Any school wey never start new session during that time frame suppose inform NELFUND, so dem fit see whether dem go give special chance. Dem still warn say any application for 2024/2025 session wey school no verify before October 8, 2025, go cancel automatically. Students wey fall under dis category dey advised make dem ginger dia school management to finish di verification before di deadline. If dem miss am, dem go need apply again afresh for 2025/2026 academic year,” di statement talk.

NELFUND still talk say some students never get approval or payment because dia schools never do di required verification wey dem suppose complete. “NELFUND dey work with these schools to solve di delay matter. But any school wey no follow di deadline go face wahala because di fund go publish dia names for everybody to see,” dem talk. On top upkeep allowance, NELFUND talk say dem go still dey pay for 2024/2025 session until November 2025. But students go need apply again for 2025/2026 session if dem want continue to dey collect. Till now, over 510,000 students don enjoy di Federal Government Student Loan Scheme, and dem don release total N99.5 billion since di scheme start on May 24, 2024. According to di Student Loan Disbursement Daily Status Report wey dem drop on September 27, 2025, NELFUND don receive 835,360 applications since dem start, but only 510,378 students fit collect di interest-free loan.
