Former Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum, don question how Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) take manage di money wey FIFA give dem for Super Falcons preparation for di 2023 Women’s World Cup for Australia and New Zealand. Waldrum, whose team commot for second round after penalty shootout loss to England, talk for a viral video on X say di team suffer because NFF no release di funds wey dem suppose use prepare well. He allege say NFF receive $960,000 from FIFA for October 2022 to support preparations, but di team no see di money. Waldrum talk say if Nigeria truly get di money, why dem no hold proper camp for November, instead dem just travel go Japan, play match and return, with some players arriving few hours before di game after 16 hours flight, wasting di remaining days wey dem suppose use train.
Waldrum also talk say FIFA dey provide financial support for federations wey no fit afford business-class travel and dem fit deduct am later from World Cup earnings, so NFF no get excuse for poor logistics. He ask where all di money enter, noting say Nigerians no dey ask di right questions. He add say di federation still fail to maximise FIFA-approved staffing because while FIFA allow 22 technical staff, Nigeria travel with only about 11, meaning di team no get analyst or scout. Waldrum explain say countries like di US get scouts across Europe to study opponents, but Super Falcons no even carry scouts go Australia and he himself dey rely only on video clips and online updates to prepare for matches.
