Nigerian Doctors Don Declare 5-Day Nationwide Warning Strike

National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) don announce say dem go begin five-day warning strike from Friday, 12th of September 2025, to take press for their demands wey government never answer since. Dis one follow statement wey dem release on Thursday, as General Secretary of Resident Doctors for Federal Capital Territory Administration, Agbor Affiong, confirm the news.

According to the statement, dem reach di decision after their online National Executive Council (NEC) meeting wey happen on Wednesday, 10th September, and enter early morning of Thursday, 11th September 2025.

“After our E-NEC meeting on Wednesday wey reach Thursday early morning, all NEC members gree say make we do five-day warning strike. Di strike go start by 8:00 a.m. on Friday, 12th September 2025, and e go end on Tuesday, 16th September 2025. All our members for different hospitals go inform their management and continue to press for our demands,” the statement talk.

Before now, NARD President, Osundara Zenith, on Tuesday talk say dem plan to shut down public hospitals across the country because of many issues like bad working conditions, poor light (electricity), downgrading doctors’ certificates, small salary, and other serious complaints. Meanwhile, ARD for FCT still dey do their own seven-day warning strike wey start on Monday this week.
