Senate don call make mental health education join national school curriculum to help solve di wahala wey students and teachers dey face for mind and emotions across Nigeria. Dr. Ipalibo Banigo, wey be Chairman of Senate Health Committee, talk dis on Monday for mental health programme wey Mandate Health Empowerment Initiative organize for Abuja. Senator Banigo talk say mental health get strong connection with discipline and how well pikin dem fit learn, and say education no just be about grades but also how character and values dey shape. E talk say no one fit perform well if dem mind dey full of worry, depression, or fear.
Di senator talk say too many students and teachers dey suffer burnout, substance abuse, and emotional stress but many people no dey understand or dey ignore am. E call make we stop to dey keep quiet and start to take action. Senate dey ready to work with Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health to put mental health for school syllabus, train teachers and school counsellors how to handle emotional wahala, set up mental health desks for schools, and help parents understand mental health better. For event, over 120 people join roundtable for Abuja to discuss mental wellness for schools, plus 54 people from 14 African countries join webinar to talk about regional mental health reforms. Dr. Ameh Abba, founder of MHEI, talk say mental health no be only hospital matter but important for national development and say this new movement go put mental wellness at heart of education for whole Africa.
