Federal Government don announce say dem don release ₦2.3 billion to clear salary and promotion arrears wey dem dey owe lecturers for different universities across Nigeria. Di Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, talk dis one on Wednesday as e give update on di matter between FG and ASUU. According to statement from di Federal Ministry of Education, di money na Batch 8 payment wey pass through di Office of di Accountant-General of di Federation, and schools go soon begin receive alert. Alausa yarn say di move show President Bola Tinubu commitment to fix di long welfare wahala wey don dey shake tertiary education, and government don also approve make Earned Academic Allowance (EAA) enter lecturers salary from 2026. He still talk say dem don release funds under Needs Assessment of Nigerian Universities, to make sure di sector no collapse again.

But some lecturers don para say dem never see any payment despite di announcement. One lecturer for Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka talk say dem never receive October salary at all. Another lecturer for FUT Minna complain say di government dey always delay dem money without explanation. One ASUU branch chairman for northern university even confirm say dem never collect a dime. Meanwhile, ASUU still dey drag FG over withheld salaries, arrears, and di 2009 ASUU–FG Agreement wey still never get full implementation. Di Yayale Ahmed Committee wey dey handle di new negotiation don submit dia report since December 2024, but nothing don move yet as lecturers dey wait to see action, not grammar.
