Edo approve ₦1bn soft loan for market women

Edo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Eugenia Abdallah, don announce say di state goment don approve N1bn soft loan for market women to boost dia business and improve dia livelihood. Abdallah yarn dis one on Saturday for press conference for Benin City, as she highlight di main achievements of di goment under dia SHINE Agenda. She talk say di programme na to support women for grassroots wey dey close to consumers, make dem fit expand dia business and contribute well to Edo economy. According to her, 54,000 women don target for entrepreneurial training, microfinance access, and skills development as part of Governor Monday Okpebholo commitment to improve economic status of women across Edo State. She also commend di governor for empowering women, as 35 percent of cabinet positions dey occupied by women.

Abdallah add say di Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development don intensify social protection programmes for vulnerable groups, provide rehabilitation and shelter for trafficked women, rape survivors, and domestic violence victims, while making sure say dia children dey under proper care. She also talk say di Uromi and Igarra Skills Acquisition Centres don revitalise and don produce over 140 graduates in 2025, and Evbuomodu Centre dey upgrade with Edo State Skills Development Agency to create more training chances for women and youth. She appreciate Governor Okpebholo and Edo First Lady Coordinator, Edesili Anani, for dia support, and promise say di goment go continue to make Edo shine brighter by giving every woman and child dignity, opportunity, and chance to reach dia full potential.
