Strike: ASUU NEC Go Review FG Final Offer Wednesday

ASUU National Executive Council (NEC) go meet Wednesday to decide wetin dem go do next after di renegotiations wey Federal Government set up under Yayale Ahmed committee don finish. Di last-minute talks start Monday, as FG wan avoid fresh strike, and dem dey expected to conclude today, Tuesday, according to one senior ASUU NEC member wey no wan make dem mention him name because of media restrictions. Di NEC member talk say, “Di renegotiation meeting start Monday, e go end Tuesday. After dat, NEC go meet Wednesday to decide our next step. Everybody go sabi di outcome den.”

ASUU one-month ultimatum to FG don pass since Saturday, wey don increase tension for public universities. Di union don dey threaten full strike, dey accuse FG say dem dey ignore dia long-standing demands wey include review of 2009 ASUU–FG agreement, payment of owed salaries and allowances, and release of funds for university revitalisation. Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, wey dey abroad, talk say government don meet nearly all di union demands. E add say, “President Bola Tinubu no want make ASUU strike, and we dey do everything to keep students for school.
