Di senators agree say kidnapping go dey classified as terrorism wey fit attract death penalty. Di amendment dey expected to change di law to give harsher punishment to kidnappers as insecurity dey rise across di country.
Meanwhile, di Senate don set up 18-member ad hoc committee to investigate di implementation of di Safe School Initiative, with Senator Orji Kalu as Chairman. Di committee go check how funds dey used, especially after attacks like di raid on Government Comprehensive Girls Secondary School, Maga, Kebbi State, wey gunmen kill vice principal and abduct 25 students. Di Senate give dem four weeks to report back. Di resolution follow recent nationwide security wahala, including St. Mary’s schools attack in Niger State where over 300 pupils and teachers dey abducted. President Bola Tinubu don declare nationwide security emergency, order more recruitment into Armed Forces and police, deploy NYSC camps for training, and give DSS green light to use forest guards to flush out bandits and terrorists.
