NERC: Togo, Niger, Benin Dey Owe Naija N25bn Gbese For Electricity

Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) don share update say Togo, Niger, and Benin dey owe Nigeria about N25 billion for electricity wey dem buy from Nigeria grid.

NERC tuk dis for dia Third Quarter 2025 report, wey show say di three countries suppose pay $18.69 million but dem don only pay $7.125 million, leaving $11.56 million unpaid.

Di regulator explain say di debt dey because these international companies dey buy power under bilateral arrangements from Nigeria, and dem never settle legacy invoices of $6.23 million from before.

NERC identify di companies as Compagnie Énergie Électrique du Togo, Société Béninoise d’Énergie Électrique, and Société Nigérienne d’Électricité, wey dey owe money for electricity supplied.
