KonfamFM 89.5 We Dey For You
They say “wetin dey sweet for mouth, na inside stomach e dey turn to bitter leaf.” That na exactly di story for one small village for Northeast Congo, where simple celebration turn to cry-cry night. Pesin wey no do any evil, wey just chop life with family, start to complain of small headache for evening, by midnight, sweat don cover am, and before day break, strange blood start to run comot for him eye and nose, leaving everybody for di room to wonder wetin dem step on. Na so dis new Ebola gbege take wake up from sleep again, and inside just few weeks, di quiet breeze for Central Africa don change to heavy panic.
Wetin dey cause dis heavy wahala no be juju from village pipo ooo, na virus wey dem dey call di Bundibugyo strain. Di fire dey catch when pesin touch di body fluid, like blood, sweat, saliva, or vomit of pesin wey di sickness don hold, or if pesin touch forest animals like fruit bats and monkeys wey carry di virus. Once di tiny virus enter body through small scratch for skin or through mouth and nose, e go begin copy itself like bad photocopy machine, attacking di body defense system until di pesin body tissue begin melt for inside him bodi.
Di first official news report wey shift ground burst out on May 15, 2026, when di Congo Ministry of Health and WHO raise alarm say di matter don pass level. Since that day, di bad market don scale up gan, as of May 22nd, 2026, di total number of cases don clear reach 836 suspected cases (with 82 already 100% confirmed by lab). Di total number of casualties wey di virus don already drop inside grave don reach 186, and inside dis pipo wey die, brave health workers wey stand for di front line follow enter di list.

Di impact of dis outbreak heavy gan, e dey tear families apart and dey shake di economy of di whole region. Because di virus dey highly dangerous, nobody fit hug or touch their loved ones wey dey sick, and even to bury dead body don become serious security matter, which dey break African tradition down layout. Markets don close, transport fare don cost because borders dey lock, and di small money wey governments suppose use build roads or buy food, dem dey pack everything run go fight dis emergency so that di whole continent no go layout.
But as di proverb say, “no matter how dark night dark reach, morning must come.” To quench dis fire, international health bodies and local doctors don layout heavy measures for ground. Dem dey build special isolation camps, and di current update from inside di main camp for Bunia city na say di place don over-stretch layout because too many people dey come register. Red Cross and Doctors without borders dey block everywhere with PPE (di thick safety cloth) to make sure medical workers dey safe, and dem don quickly set up infrared thermometers for camp gate to test everybody body temperature, while scientists dey sharp-sharp try new experimental treatments since di old vaccines no dey work for dis particular strain.
If we look di matter with clear eye, dis battle no be for government alone, na for everybody to join bodi block di virus. If di community pipo fit report any strange fever sharp-sharp and avoid to touch sick pipo or dead bodies without protection, di virus no go see road to jump enter another pesin. Di road to stop dis outbreak long o, but with clean hand, fast treatment, and strong heart, Africa go clear dis wahala and win di war again.
