“Dem no give Tinubu better advice”, NNPP condemn emergency rule for Rivers

The New Nigeria Peoples Party don condemn President Bola Tinubu for the state of emergency wey e impose for Rivers State.
PUNCH Online report say on Tuesday, the President declare state of emergency for Rivers because of the political crisis wey don dey happen for the state.

Tinubu still suspend Governor Siminalayi Fubara, e deputy Ngozi Odu and state assembly members for six months.
E come nominate former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice-admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), to dey administer the state.

As dem react to the matter for statement wey NNPP spokesperson Ladipo Johnson release on Wednesday, the party describe Tinubu action as unconstitutional and call am “one kind absurd political decision and very dangerous precedent.”

The party talk say the political crisis for Rivers never reach the level wey go warrant state of emergency. Dem add say “better solution” fit don solve the matter.

The statement talk say:
“Of course, the presidential fiat wey invoke Section 305 of the 1999 Constitution na arbitrary move for this kind situation, to say the least, especially on top the conditions wey law require before such action and wetin e mean for democracy and the development of the country.
“E dey clearly show say na dangerous precedent and e fit only be seen as one absurd political manipulation by the federal government.
“Why e rush go declare state of emergency without following the conditions wey law require? No be the same rule of law e talk about for e speech?
“By this rash action, e no show say e understand the long-term implications or get the skills wey dey needed to rule one complex country like Nigeria?
“Abi this one na about e Party’s political interest for Rivers State ahead of 2027?
“These questions dey important for this decision wey no make sense, wey don send serious fear both locally and internationally about rule of law and the state of our union.”

Ladipo talk say dem no give Tinubu better advice and say e suppose act as a father to settle the crisis.
E come dey ask Tinubu make e reverse Fubara suspension and urge National Assembly make dem reject the emergency rule.
