Former Super Eagles striker, Samson Siasia, don finally open up on wetin make dem chase am comot from the national team during him playing days. Siasia, wey be one of the top players wey help Nigeria win the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations, talk say dem drop am from the team just because he no pass ball give him teammate, the late Rashidi Yekini, during one important match. As he dey talk with Emmanuel Babayaro for UTVAfrica, Siasia reflect on the golden era of Super Eagles between 1990 and 1998. He explain say the issue happen during a 1994 World Cup qualifier against Ivory Coast for Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny, Abidjan.

For the match, instead of Siasia to pass the ball to Yekini wey better positioned, he choose to shoot. National team coach that time, Clemens Westerhof, no happy with the decision and see am as selfish play, na so him come drop Siasia from the team. “I be striker.
