Determined to connect African creativity with commerce, Design Week Lagos (DWL), wey be Africa’s number one festival of design, innovation and culture, don ready to begin dia 2025 edition. According to di organisers, di 2025 edition go hold from October 23 to 28 and go turn Lagos into one big celebration of creativity under di theme “Made in Africa: Shaping Industries, Shaping Futures.” Founder of DWL, Titi Ogufere, talk say di festival, wey don reach seven years now, don turn global platform wey dey spotlight African design excellence and connect creativity with business. She yarn say DWL don help position Lagos as Africa’s creative capital where design dey push industry, tourism and transformation, as di platform don become space where innovation meet opportunity.

Ogufere talk say di event go run for six days with exhibitions, installations, talks and plenty creative activities across Lagos design districts. From di Made by Design Show and Design Innovation Exhibition to student showcases and partner programmes, di festival go engage professionals, students and di public. She add say di event, wey Lagos State Government anchor with support from di Federal Ministry of Tourism, dey show how design tourism dey grow fast for West Africa, as creativity don begin fuel new industries and global recognition. General Manager of Wole Soyinka Centre (National Theatre), Tola Akerele, hail di organisers for improving every year and for giving Nigerian designers platform to show dia talent. Lagos Commissioner for Tourism, Art and Culture, Toke Benson-Awoyinka, talk say di event fit well with government plan to make Lagos global hub for creative industry, and say Nigeria as a nation suppose celebrate di hard work of young designers. Ogufere also reveal say this year programme get over 100 activations, 20,000 visitors and more than 250 million media impressions across 20 LGAs, with exhibitions, studio tours and events for Victoria Island, Ikoyi, Lekki and Yaba. Highlights include di Design Innovation Exhibition, Made by Design Show with over 100 top brands, DWL Talks & Dialogue in Design and Development with speakers like Bibi Seck and Victoria Adesanmi, and di Student Design Competition in partnership with Caverton Marine, where young designers go reimagine maritime mobility under di watch of top designer Kurt Merki Jnr.
