FG Don Move To Ban Single-Use Plastics

Di Federal Government don start serious move to ban single-use plastics for Nigeria as dem don inaugurate one special committee wey go lead di policy. Di Inter-Ministerial Committee on di Ban of Single-Use Plastics (SUPs) bin get inaugurated by di Office of di Secretary to di Government of di Federation (SGF), wey show say government don ready face plastic wahala head-on. Di ban wey di Federal Executive Council (FEC) approve since June 25, 2024, go target things like PET bottles, styrofoam food packs, plastic shopping bags, sachet water nylon, and plastic straws wey don full everywhere for di country.

For im talk during di inauguration, di SGF George Akume yarn say di move follow Nigeria commitment to global environmental standards. E talk say di FEC decision na to fight health and environment problems wey di single-use plastics dey cause, especially di wahala from PET bottles, styrofoam and plastic bags wey don turn environmental headache. Akume wey send di Permanent Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi Danjuma represent am, talk say di wrong way people dey throway plastics don cause marine pollution and land damage, and e dey danger wildlife and human health.
