The Japanese Ambassador to Nigeria, Suzuki Hideo, don yan say plenty Japanese companies wey dey operate for Nigeria dey struggle to make profit. Hideo talk dis one on Friday for Japan Pavilion during di opening ceremony of di 2025 Lagos International Trade Fair wey dey Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos. Di ambassador talk say even though di companies dey face economic wahala, dem still dey optimistic about di future of dia business for Nigeria. Hideo yan, “We get about 52 Japanese companies wey dey operate for Nigeria for different sectors. Some na manufacturing, some dey do distribution, some dey export goods go Japan. Dem situation different, but many of dem no dey make profit for dia business for Nigeria.”
Despite di financial wahala, Hideo talk say di companies still dey plan long-term and dey hope say Nigeria market go improve with time. E add say, “Dem sabi say dem gats plan long-term for dia policies and strategies. Dem dey hope say better future dey ahead for dia business. Na wetin dey happen now be dat.” Di envoy talk say e never still get official feedback from di Japanese companies wey dey participate for di fair, but e notice say many dey struggle to move forward. Meanwhile, JETRO Commissioner, Takashi Oku, yan say more Japanese companies dey form partnership with Nigerian firms to improve dia operations, with 47 firms dey participate this year, and new “Super Japan in Lagos” go showcase innovative products from six more Japanese companies and five Nigerian firms.
