KAI Clear Illegal Stalls From Lekki-Epe Expressway Roadside

The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), wey people sabi as Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI), yesterday demolish makeshift shops wey dey along Ikate area for Lekki–Epe Expressway. As dem dey do the operation, the agency also seize sachet alcohol wey dem display for roadside and beef wey dem transport in dirty condition.

LAGESC talk say this enforcement na because the 48-hour quit notice wey dem don give the traders before don expire. Dem also talk say the clearance na part of the effort to clean Lagos and stop environmental wahala. As e dey talk on behalf of the Corps Marshal, Major Olaniyi Olatunbosun Cole (rtd), the Head of Public Affairs and Advocacy Unit, Ajayi Lukman, explain say the demolition target illegal structures wey don turn to hideout for bad boys and criminal activity. E talk say dem see plenty dirt and serious disregard for public health as dem dey do the cleanup. Cole also warn street traders and hawkers make dem stop selling for traffic, on road shoulders, medians, or even doing open defecation, say anybody wey dem catch go face the law under state environmental rules. “The governor don give order make we clear all illegal structures for every council across the state. Today own na for Ikate, Elegushi and Festac. Even after the 48-hour notice, the traders still stubborn remain there. No be today we begin clear this place, but dem dey always come back,” Cole talk.
