Lagos Begin Enforcement Of Single-Use Plastic Ban, Raid Supermarkets

Lagos State Government don increase enforcement of the ban wey dem place on single-use plastics, as dem raid big supermarkets come carry all the products wey dem don forbid, all na part of the plan to tackle the wahala of waste wey dey worry the city. On Tuesday, officials from the state Ministry of Environment lead operation for places like Blenco Supermarket for Lekki, Blend & Temple Hill for Ire-Akari, Jendol for Jakande Estate, and other stores for Ejigbo and Idimu. For one video wey Commissioner for Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, share, enforcement team dey pack plastic cups, beverage straws, disposable plates, and other banned plastic items from supermarket shelves. The ban bin first start in January 2024 with styrofoam packs, and government give 18-month grace period wey end July 1, 2025, to allow people adjust before full enforcement begin. The law no gree for things like straws, disposable plates, cutlery, nylon bags, and other light plastics.
