Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, NCDC, report 11 new confirmed Lassa fever cases for dia latest Situation Report wey cover Week 37 (September 8–14, 2025). According to di update, di new cases show for Ondo, Bauchi, Kogi, and Anambra States, and e small pass di 13 cases wey dem confirm last week. For 2025, total confirmed cases don reach 895, and 166 people don die, which mean di case fatality rate (CFR) na 18.5 percent. Dis one high pass di 16.9 percent wey dem report for same time last year 2024.
So far, 21 states and 106 Local Government Areas (LGAs) don report at least one confirmed case. But majority of di infection, about 90 percent, dey come from Ondo, Bauchi, Edo, Taraba, and Ebonyi States, showing say di disease still heavy for those areas. Di report still talk say di age group wey suffer pass na 21–30 years, and no new healthcare worker case show for di week wey dem report. Better thing be say, both suspected and confirmed cases dey drop compared to same time last year. NCDC come still talk say dem serious to fight di outbreak, and dem beg Nigerians make dem dey watch body well, avoid contact with rats, store food well, and make dem rush hospital quick if any symptoms show.
