More than 100,000 police officers for Nigeria don dey protect politicians and other big men, leaving ordinary people with small or no police cover, according to new EU report. Di report, wey drop for November 2025 from di European Union Agency for Asylum, talk say Nigeria Police Force get about 371,800 officers wey dey serve population of over 236 million people. But plenty of dem officers don leave community policing to dey guard VIPs instead of facing crime prevention. Di report talk say dis shortage, join with corruption and poor resources, don make emergency response slow and many communities no get police presence at all. E also expose how lack of accountability don make some officers misbehave, from arbitrary arrest, extortion, to use of excess force.
