“Police Warn Sowore And Others Make Dem No Protest Over Lagos Demolitions”

The Lagos State Police Commissioner, Mr Olohundare Jimoh, don warn activist, Omoyele Sowore and others make dem no dey mobilise protest over di recent demolitions wey happen for Lagos. Jimoh talk dis one as e dey yan with journalists for Iyana-Oworo near Third Mainland Bridge on Monday. E yan say police don deploy plenty men across di city to stop any kind demonstration wey fit scatter peace. E talk say dem no go allow anybody block major roads or disturb di calm wey Lagos people dey enjoy now. Jimoh talk say, “We dey warn Sowore and him people make dem siddon for house or dem go feel di full force of di law. Third Mainland Bridge na very important road for Nigeria economy and safety of lives and property. Every day, thousands dey depend on dat bridge for work and medical emergencies.” Police officers don also dey stationed for Maryland, Ojota, Gani Fawehinmi Park, Gbagada, Bariga, Lekki Toll Gate and other strategic areas to maintain order.

Jimoh further yan say Constitution dey give everybody freedom to talk and assemble peacefully, but any protest must follow due process and must no disturb rights of others. E add say, “Anybody wey wan do peaceful protest, make dem follow correct procedures. Wetin we dey see lately no be protest, na just way to disturb public peace. Anybody wey do am go face law.” About Oworonshoki demolition, e defend government action say di areas wey dem clear na illegal structures wey criminals dey use attack innocent people. Genuine residents don collect compensation, and media don cover am. E yan say some people dey try use dis wahala for political or criminal gain, but police no go allow anybody hide under activism to cause wahala. E assure law-abiding Lagosians say dem go dey protected, make dem continue to waka freely, and warn say, “We go continue to make Lagos peaceful, but criminality under protest cover no go dey tolerated.”
