“FCT Doctors Begin 7-Day Warning Strike Over Bad Work Condition”

Doctors wey dey work under Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Administration don start seven-day warning strike to protest the bad condition wey dem dey work under and the serious neglect by government authorities. The strike wey start earlier this week, na the FCT chapter of the Association of Resident Doctors announce am through their President, Dr. George Ebong, and members of the association’s executive committee. For one press briefing, Dr. Ebong talk say dem dey very worried about the condition of health facilities and the plenty pressure wey dey on medical staff for the FCT. He talk say many doctors dey forced to work for plenty departments at once because no enough staff, and hospital buildings plus equipment don begin to fall apart. “Our members don reach breaking point,” Dr. Ebong talk. “Dem dey overwork, no support, and dem dey carry whole hospital work for head because government no dey act. The thing don too much, and e no fit continue like this.”

The association talk say this strike na just warning, and if government no do something quick, dem go start full-blown strike. According to the doctors, the health system for FCT don enter serious structural decay wey need quick and total reform.
