Company Don Install Clean Energy, Oxygen Systems for Lagos Hospitals

One Nigerian technology company wey dem dey call Newdigit don start to install clean energy system wey dey give hospitals for Lagos State better electricity, medical oxygen and clean water. Di initiative wey get support from Powering Healthcare Innovation Fund na to help reduce how hospitals dey depend on bad power from national grid and diesel generator wey dey pollute environment. Mr Derick Nwasor, wey be co-founder and CEO of Newdigit, talk this one for statement wey e release on Monda, e explain say di company system wey dem call ‘Just Add Water’ dey use solar energy join with one kain technology wey dem dey call Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) to produce light, oxygen, and clean water right there for hospital. “Plenty hospitals dey face power cut for up to 10 hours every day, and na why dem dey always run diesel generator wey dey pollute air. “But with Just Add Water, hospitals fit run important medical equipment, produce oxygen and get clean water, wey go help improve their healthcare services,” Nwasor talk. Dem don already install di system for three hospitals for Lagos. Di system dey provide up to 15 kilowatts of steady electricity, 10 to 40 litres of medical oxygen every day, and regular clean water.

According to wetin Nwasor talk, di system fit serve more than 24,000 patients every year, reduce over 150 tonnes of carbon pollution, and generate 274 megawatt-hours (MWh) of clean energy for just di first year. Ms Joy Princess, wey be co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Newdigit, talk say dem get plan to expand di project reach 1,000 hospitals across Nigeria by 2030. Di project collect $50,000 grant from di Powering Healthcare Innovation Fund, wey Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) launch with support from UK aid under di Transforming Energy Access initiative.
