Minister of Works, David Umahi, yan say e hear Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State talk about the over N15 trillion Lagos-Calabar coastal highway. Umahi challenge Makinde make dem do public debate for civil engineering matter. E yan say e no go join issue with Makinde because dem be friends but e still talk say Makinde no sabi road construction well well. Umahi talk say cost per kilometre for road no fit be same everywhere because design and materials dey different. E talk say e be senior for both governance and engineering pass Makinde, and if Makinde no understand, make e call am ask. E also yan say e be “A” student for Mathematics and e no go tolerate any insult.

During inspection for Mararaba–Keffi dual carriageway with Nasarawa Governor Abdullahi Sule, Umahi announce say dem remove China Harbour Engineering Company from the Abuja-bound carriageway work because dem no cooperate and no dey follow instruction. Local contractors go handle the work now to make sure e quick and correct. Umahi warn say no contractor suppose lay pavement before shoulder ready, and ministry officials wey no report wahala fast go lose their job. E yan say road go get strong base with cement and concrete shoulder to last 40 years. The project originally cost N73 billion but them upgrade am for better quality. Umahi talk say e get full support from President Bola Tinubu to make sure road work dey transparent and contractors no go do anyhow. E warn say anybody wey dey ask for money for ministry go face public exposure.
