Lagos Dey Push Agri-Tech To Make Farmers Enjoy Better Life

Di Lagos State Government don renew dia push to turn agriculture into innovation and job hub as dem dey promote youth-driven agri-tech solutions wey go solve farmers wahala. Di move na to mix creativity, technology, and enterprise so that young people go see farming as better career and rural farmers go earn more money. For media interview during Lagos Agrithon Grand Finale, di Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Ms Abisola Olusanya, yarn say di state dey work with young innovators to promote modern agriculture and bring real benefit to farmers. She talk say di government focus na to boost innovation wey go tackle farming and agri-food business challenges to improve production and efficiency. To achieve am, di state don intensify effort to modernise agriculture and equip youths with knowledge and tools to fit shine for di competitive agri economy. She mention say di programmes dey combine technology, training, and mentorship to empower youths and farmers across Lagos.

She list plenty youth-support programmes like di Lagos Agricultural Scholars’ Quiz Competition wey dey bring together bright students from public schools to show dia love for agriculture. Under di Lagos Agrithon initiative, government dey invest in young people with fresh ideas to boost production and improve efficiency for di food sector. She hail di success of di Lagos Agri-Innovation Club as proof say collaboration dey work well, as agripreneurs dey share ideas, services and explore new business opportunities together. Di 2025 Agrithon process start with over 1,000 business submissions before final selection, with mentorship and farm visits to confirm dia work. Ms Olusanya say di quality this year pass previous ones, and di final 36 contestants go benefit from N150m support plus sponsors’ fund, bigger than last year’s N100m. She add say dem even get entries from Ogun, Anambra and other states, because many of dia customers still dey Lagos. Di Commissioner talk say with mentoring and tech guidance, government wan help youths create innovative digital tools wey go lift farmers, modernise agriculture, and make di sector more sustainable, inclusive and resilient.
