General Secretary, Peters Adeyemi, condemn di recurring threats wey government dey use di policy take scare workers and criminalise dem lawful struggle. E talk say di policy no dey bring peace, but dey intimidate workers and hide government failure to honour agreements. Adeyemi yarn say strikes na last resort wey come after dialogue and negotiation don fail, and government negligence na wetin dey push workers to do am.
Adeyemi explain say Section 42(1)(a) of Trade Disputes Act talk “no work, no pay,” but di law still require conciliation, mediation, and arbitration. Government dey ignore di procedures and dem own duty to pay workers monthly. E yarn say Nigeria, as ILO member, dey protect workers right to organise and strike, so any punishment for lawful strike na violation of both national and international labour law. E hail Nigerian workers as patriotic, say na dem dey keep nation dey function despite low pay and poor conditions. NASU call on government to stop threats and intimidation, and use collective bargaining as proper way to solve dispute and improve work relationship.
