Lagos Communities Lament Failed Roads, Blame Govt Neglect

Residents of Alakuko for Ifako-Ijaiye LGA and Olutosin Ajayi Street for Ajao Estate, Oshodi/Isolo LGA, Lagos State, don lament terrible state of three major access roads wey dey dia areas. Di people for Baale Animashaun and Powerline roads don dey shout over di poor condition, call on government make dem intervene. Our correspondent observe on Thursday say vehicles dey struggle enter and exit di areas because of big potholes wey dey everywhere. One resident, Tunji Adio, talk say, “Di road don dey like this for years with no government intervention. Na access road wey connect many communities, but government never attend am.” Tricycle riders add say cup for wheel dey always damage, and dem no get money to repair am, while some residents dey try fill potholes with granite, but rain dey wash am away.

Residents also complain say Powerline Road dey equally abandoned, as private cars dey spoil their bumpers anytime dem use di road. Matthew Adeleye talk say di failed roads dey cause security wahala, as criminals and even police dey take advantage for night to attack or arrest motorists. For Ajao Estate, residents lament di collapsed Olutosin Ajayi Street wey lead reach police divisional HQ. Lawrence Yakubu ask, “How government go expect police to fight crime when road dey collapsed? Na why we dey call government make dem fix di roads.” Residents insist say state and local government neglect dem, and dem need urgent intervention to make life better and safe for di community.
