ASUU Reject FG Proposed Salary Increase → ASUU No Gree FG Salary Rise

Di Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Benin Zone, yesterday, no gree di salary increment wey di Federal Government propose. Di zonal Coordinator, Prof. Monday Lewis Igbafen, talk say di proposed rise na “just small water wey no fit stop di brain drain wey dey affect university education for Nigeria.” E yan say e dey sad say di Federal Government still dey show say dem no ready to settle all di wahala wey dey between dem and ASUU quick and complete. Igbafen add say government suppose settle di 2009 FGM/ASUU agreement and handle all di other matter wey still dey for table.

E talk say di salary and conditions of service still dey pain dem, and dem need serious wahala wey go stop di gbege wey fit burst. “Na why we reject di proposed salary increase, cos e no go fit solve di brain drain matter,” Igbafen talk. E complain say teachers dey still dey work with di 2009 salary wey di naira value to dollar na N120, even as other sectors don don increase salary twice or more since den. E conclude say di “half-hearted talk” wey di government dey do without action must stop now.
