Estate Agent Murder: Runaway Suspect Nabbed While Him Dey Find Passport for Lagos

Bayelsa State Police Command don catch the main suspect wey dem dey find for the kidnap and killing of one 42-year-old estate agent, Richard Ekpebu, wey dem find him dead body for bush on July 24, 2025. The suspect, George Idumangi, wey come from Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, dey arrested on Monday for Lagos Immigration Office, as e dey try collect international passport to japa. Commissioner of Police, Francis Idu, don earlier hand over the matter to Operation Puff Adder, led by CSP Chris Nwaogbo, for coded investigation. According to security sources, dem track Idumangi waka round many places for Lagos like Lekki, Ikorodu, Festac, Ikeja, and Orile before dem finally grab am. For earlier raids, officers miss am by just minutes, but dem recover one bag wey get T-shirt with ‘IYC Tactical Team’ written on am and two phones wey dem believe get connection to the murder.

Before dem catch Idumangi, police don already arrest Victory Benard Henry, 23 years old, wey dem believe say be him girlfriend, for Yenagoa. From her hand, dem recover one pump-action gun, five live cartridges, two empty AK-47 magazines, 10 walkie-talkies, 10 chargers, and three AK-47 slings. Investigation show say na Victory first lure Ekpebu enter the fake land deal, then introduce am to Idumangi, wey later collect N9 million from one supposed land buyer. Victory allegedly get N1 million cut from the deal. But wahala start when the buyer ask for land documents, and Ekpebu deny say e no know anything about the deal. He even direct the buyer go meet the original land owner, na that one vex Idumangi. Police talk say na that time Idumangi, with the help of people like Victor Shadrack (alias Doggy) and another one wey dem only identify as Insurance, allegedly kidnap and kill Ekpebu to cover up the fraud and make e look like say na the estate agent run with the papers. As police confirm the arrest, CP Idu talk say: “After serious intelligence and well-coordinated operations, we don arrest Mr. George Idumangi, the brain behind the murder of Mr. Richard Ekpebu for Bayelsa Palm. We catch am this morning for Lagos as e dey try escape the country. This na big win for our officers, and I hail the good people of Bayelsa and the Prosperity Government for their support.” Police still dey continue their investigation to catch the remaining suspects wey still dey on the run.
