Kanu Don Gree Judge Talk — Say Im Go Meet Wit Im Lawyers

Di detained leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, don gree on Wednesday to consult im lawyers before e open im defence for di terrorism case wey Federal Government carry go court against am. Justice James Omotosho of di Federal High Court, Abuja, again advise Kanu make e get proper legal guidance after e keep insist say di seven-count charge against am no valid. At first, Kanu bin refuse to continue with im defence, but later tell di court say e need to meet with im legal team, Nnaemeka Ejiofor, Aloy Ejimakor, Maxwell Okpara and Mandela Umegborogu. Di judge come grant adjournment till November 7, marking di fourth time Kanu don get chance to either open im defence or give up di right to do so. E still recall say Kanu don sack im former legal team headed by ex-Attorney General Kanu Agabi (SAN), talk say e go defend himself, and even list 23 witnesses including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike before he later change mouth, say di charges no get legal standing.

For inside Wednesday hearing, Kanu still maintain say di terrorism charge no get basis since di Terrorism Prevention and Prohibition Act wey dem take charge am don repeal. E talk say e no fit defend himself under law wey no dey exist again. Meanwhile, prosecution counsel Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN) beg court make dem force Kanu to either defend himself or waive im right, since government don already close dia case since June 19, 2025 after calling five witnesses. Di court even talk on September 26 say prima facie case dey against am, but Kanu don fail to open im defence two times, blame am on documents wey im former lawyers never give am. Justice Omotosho talk say e go still bend backward for interest of justice to allow Kanu meet lawyers wey sabi criminal law well well before di next sitting.
