Lagos Give Extra Time to Estates Wey No Comply

Normalcy don return to Lagos real estate sector as state government don review di tagging of 176 estates for Lekki, Ajah, Ibeju-Lekki and Epe areas as illegal. Dis come after serious public outcry. Di government say di estates no get layout approval from Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, and dem give 21-day ultimatum to submit proper documents. Permanent Secretary, Engr. Oluwole Sotire, say di move na to protect di state’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ agenda and make sure all estates follow proper planning rules. Some of di affected estates include Adron Homes, Diamond Estate, Prime Water View, and Royal View Estate. Government don extend di deadline by two weeks after many developers begin submit dia layouts for regularisation, but warn say any estate wey still no comply after di new deadline go face shutdown.

Stakeholders like AfRES Chairman, Adediran Adetunji, and Metro Homes boss, Dr. Adekunle, support di government. Dem talk say developers must work with professionals to design proper layouts and submit to government. Dem warn say without proper planning, estates go remain illegal, and investors no go get confidence. Dr. Adekunle talk say land wey no get layout dey cause drainage and infrastructure wahala, which fit lead to flooding. He blame some developers wey dey sell land without approval, putting buyers for trouble. Housing Minister, Ahmed Dangiwa, also raise concern say only 5% of land for Nigeria get title, and say Federal Government dey plan to fix land titling within 10 years.
