Lagos Update Traffic Plan As Dem Resume Repair For Ogudu–Ifako Bridge

Repair work for Ogudu–Ifako Bridge wey dey Kosofe Local Government Area go resume on Wednesday, September 3, after Lagos State Government change how dem dey manage traffic. The project stop two weeks ago because serious traffic jam and security wahala happen when dem start the first phase. Drivers complain say e dey take long for dem to reach their destination, plus traffic robbers begin attack vehicle wey jam for road. Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, talk on Tuesday say government don check the diversion plan to make delay less and bring order back around the construction area. E explain say traffic go dey flow normally except for the work zone. Vehicles go dey diverted into one lane of the three-lane road about 50 metres before the repair area, then dem go fit enter the full road again shortly after.

The commissioner give alternative routes for people wey dey go Oshodi, Victoria Island, and other parts of Lagos, and say traffic officers go dey manage the diversions well. For inbound Oshodi/VI from Lagos–Ibadan Expressway/Toll Gate, drivers fit use Ojota Slip Road join Ikorodu Road (inward Anthony) and continue go Oshodi. For Victoria Island, drivers fit take Ikorodu Road through Town Planning Way go Gbagada then Third Mainland Bridge, or continue on Ikorodu Road go Funsho Williams Avenue then use Eko Bridge. For inbound Oshodi/VI from Ikeja and nearby areas, drivers make dem pass Maryland join Ikorodu Road/Funsho Williams Avenue then use Eko Bridge to Outer Marina. Dem fit also enter Ikorodu Road by Anthony (Taxi Park) to join Oshodi. Government beg drivers to cooperate with traffic officers, follow lane rules, and use the alternative routes. Dem say the wahala go short and e necessary to make road better. Government talk say dem don learn from the earlier problem and dey work with security agencies to stop criminals during the partial closure. Ogudu–Ifako Bridge dey get phased maintenance as part of bigger plan to improve Lagos road infrastructure.
