Mob Burn Lagos Immigration Checkpoint After Stray Bullet Hit Woman

Tension burst for Igbogbele community, Badagry West LCDA, Lagos State, after one stray bullet wey one Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) officer fire hit middle-aged woman, Hunsu Elizabeth. Di incident happen on Friday, and some angry youths for di area come set di immigration checkpoint on fire. According to CityMood Badagry, di wahala make residents vex well-well as dem accuse di officers of recklessness. Video clips show thick flames dey engulf di checkpoint, while residents rush to help di woman wey hit for arm, and try stop di officers from waka comot. One clip even show seven armed immigration officers dey confronted by angry residents, while people dey shout say, “You don shoot di lady! No run! You no suppose shoot!” Another video show di victim dey grimace for hospital bed, and another clip show say dem carry her go motorcycle to rush hospital.

Di member representing Badagry Federal Constituency, Sesi Whingan, condemn di shooting and urge residents make dem calm. For him Facebook post, e talk say, “I receive with deep concern di distressing incident wey happen for Igbogbele, where NIS officer reportedly fire shot wey hit Hunsu Elizabeth for inside her house. We dey grateful say her life safe, and I pray make she recover quick. My sympathy dey with her, her family, and everybody wey di wahala touch.” E talk say di matter deeply troubling, and dem no dey first time residents face danger and harassment from security for Badagry–Owode–Seme corridor. E condemn reckless force, warn say e dey undermine public trust and put citizens life for risk, and promise to engage NIS and Customs leadership for accountability. E also appeal to residents make dem no take law for hand and maintain peace, stressing say Badagry na peaceful and united community. Meanwhile, NIS spokesperson Akinsola Akinlabi never respond to calls or messages. Di incident join growing list of security wahala for border communities, after last September, some customs officers allegedly ram primary school pupil to death while chasing smugglers for Itakoji, Ipokia, Ogun State, wey spark another protest.
