Study Show Say 70% Of Women Wey Dey Wait Death Sentence For Nigeria Na Mothers

New study wey dem just release don show say majority of women wey dey inside death row for Nigeria dey face serious gender wahala, poverty, poor education, and injustice inside court process. Di research wey Hope Behind Bars Africa do with National Human Rights Commission and support from World Coalition Against di Death Penalty plus French Development Agency, show say 70% of di women na mothers wey don leave pikin behind inside unstable or broken care. 47% of dem dey between 18 and 35 years, over one-third no go school at all, and just 10% finish university. Most of dem dey hustle before with small jobs like trading and farming before dem jam criminal justice wahala. Di study also reveal say over 30% of dem don face domestic violence, child marriage or partner abuse wey relate to di crime wey land dem for death row.

Di study still talk say 75% of di women no even sabi di law wey dem use judge dem, 85% talk say di law no fair to women, and over half say dia court trial no clear. Di wahala don also scatter life for dia children – from school wahala to mental stress and poor living condition. Even with di death sentence, over 80% of di women still believe say dem fit change and prefer better punishment like skill training or prison instead of execution. Dr Tony Ojukwu, SAN, wey be National Human Rights Commission boss, talk during di event say di death penalty no dey work to stop crime and no fit align with human rights justice. Him call for urgent reform and promote restorative justice wey go respect human dignity. Meanwhile, Male Feminists Network (MFN) still drop another bombshell say over 35% of Nigerian women don suffer physical, sexual or money wahala from abuse. Dem launch online course make men join hand for di fight against gender-based violence and push for equal, peaceful society wey no go dey fear or discriminate anybody.
