World Food Day: Dem Dey Tell FG Make E Support Local Farmers, Share Food Well Well

As Nigeria join di rest of di world celebrate World Food Day on October 16, 2025, stakeholders don call on Federal Government to invest in local farmers, promote agroecology, and support better food distribution to make di country food system strong and better for both people and environment. Mrs. Oluremi Kuteyi, di Executive Director of Spectra Industries Ltd for Oko-Oba, Lagos, make di call during program wey di company organize to mark di day. She talk say Nigeria get di tools and knowledge to solve food problem, and say sustainable farming fit increase productivity while still protect di environment. She add say Spectra, together with FAO, dey call on everybody to “Work hand in hand for better foods and a better future” as FAO celebrate dia 80th anniversary with opening of Food and Agriculture Museum and Network for Rome.

Di Senior Special Adviser to di President on Industrial Training & Development, Adamson Ayinde, talk say di program support President Tinubu Renewed Hope Agenda, but say government no fit do am alone. First Lady Oluremi Tinubu also join voice, say Nigerians must work together to stop hunger and malnutrition, as food security concern everybody. She talk say di future where no Nigerian dey hungry fit happen if we transform our food system and build strong partnership to promote sustainable agriculture, reduce food waste, and make healthy food reach every home. For Abuja, di Nutrition Society of Nigeria (NSN), FCT chapter, through dia chairperson Major Edith Nwachinereme, beg FG to tackle rising inflation and malnutrition. She talk say dem dey focus on grassroots areas like Jikwoyi, where hunger dey bite pass, to teach women how to cook better meals with local food. She warn say economic wahala and food waste dey push more families into serious hunger, especially poor communities.
