The Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly and representative of Apapa Constituency 1, Hon Meranda Mojisola Lasbat, don restate her office dedication towards sustainable economic growth and development of her constituency by the introduction of enhanced initiatives and policies wey go tackle economic issues across various economic sectors. The deputy Speaker talk this one during the 10th Legislative Assembly Annual Constituency Stakeholders’ Meeting with the theme: ‘Governance in Action: The Gains of the Renewed Hope’, wey dey happen for all the 40 constituencies across the state.
According to her, regarding employment and empowerment, Lagos State Government don facilitate opportunities for youths and residents through placements for TESCOM, LASTMA, the Neighbourhood Watch, Lagos State Rail Mass Transit (Blue Line), and the Local Government Service Commission. “This na governance wey dey work, e dey create way for our youths make dem productive, self-reliant, and fit contribute to society.” she talk. On infrastructure, Lasbat explain say, in partnership with Lagos State Government, her constituency go start big road rehabilitation projects through Lagos State Public Works Corporation, wey go see roads like Adele Road, Udegbunam Street, Payne Crescent, Ogedegbe Road, Eko Lane, Aromire Street, Ashanti Close, Freetown Road, Sapele Road, Jetty Road, Idugaran Road, Cameroun Road, Oniru Street, Olofin Road, Ijora Olopa Market Road, and Julius Berger Road for Ijora GRA rehabilitated. The lawmaker add: “These no be just roads; dem be lifelines for trade, commerce, and community life. This na the Renewed Hope Agenda at work, bringing development to grassroots.
“For education, we dey try provide JAMB forms every year, help people enter state-owned tertiary schools, and do ‘Back to School’ program every year, wey include school bags, books, mathematical sets, plus other things for public primary school pikin dem, and we still give furniture to public Junior Secondary Schools for our area. This one don prove one true thing: say education na the bridge wey dey connect poverty to better life. For health matter too, we don start health insurance scheme for our people.” The deputy Speaker further explain say the administration also start initiatives like the Annual Youth Coding Bootcamp, “which na a futuristic investment in equipping youths with skills for the digital economy.”
