Lagos State Police Command don talk say peace don return to Tejuosho Market Phase II, Surulere, after hoodlums and miscreants scatter ground under the excuse say dem dey protest power outage. For statement wey Deputy Police PRO, DSP Babaseyi Oluseyi, sign, he reveal say di hoodlums damage some parts of one commercial bank inside the market and even attack police officers wey dey on guard duty. Di statement talk say mobile policemen (PMF) wey dey guide di bank stand strong, repel di attack, protect the bank from total invasion, and still show high level of restraint despite di provocation. The incident happen on September 18, 2025, around 2:30pm, when police receive distress call say kasala don burst as hoodlums dey attack people, destroy goods and properties. Dem also attempt enter the Market Police Post but fail, as officers quickly respond.
Immediately dem get the report, Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, deploy extra tactical squad, conventional police and other operatives go the scene. Police quickly scatter the hoodlums and arrest 18 suspects wey dem catch for the act. The joint police team restore normalcy, and market activities resume as traders and customers begin do their business in peace. The suspects dey currently for police custody under investigation, and authorities don promise say all of dem go face court once investigation complete. The Command still dey work to track down other people wey join the disturbance but never get arrested. Police say dis kain violent act no go dey tolerated at all, and dem go continue to take action against anybody wey try scatter peace.
CP Olohundare Jimoh reassure Lagos residents, business owners and stakeholders say the situation dey fully under control. He talk say any attack on police officers or damage to property no go ever be acceptable. He advise residents make dem show maximum respect to officers wey dey protect lives and property, and make dem report any complaint or suspicious activity to the nearest police station or through emergency contacts. Police also beg traders and customers for Tejuosho and other Lagos markets make dem remain calm, as di command don ready to maintain law and order for every corner of the state.
