Di Lagos State Government, through di Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), don kick off di Rural Health Scheme for Agboyi Ori Omi Community inside Agboyi-Ketu LCDA. Di programme fall under di Eko Social Health Alliance (EKOSHA) Rural Health Insurance Initiative wey Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu launch through him Executive Order to make sure say every Lagos resident, no matter where dem dey or wetin dem get, go enjoy health insurance cover. LASHMA plan to use mobile clinics and ambulances visit rural communities three times every week, and dem don partner with local keke riders to carry patients wey need urgent care free of charge. During di flag-off, di Permanent Secretary of LASHMA, Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, call di event “historic milestone” for di journey to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC) for Lagos. She hail Sanwo-Olu for him strong commitment to social protection and for approving di Equity Fund wey dey sustain health programmes for vulnerable people. She talk say di scheme go bridge di healthcare gap for hard-to-reach communities wey no get proper Primary Health Centres (PHCs).
Zamba explain say di pilot phase go start for five communities across Lagos three senatorial districts — Agboyi Ori-Omi (Agboyi-Ketu LCDA), Iba Oloja (Ibeju-Lekki LGA), Lafiaji and Okun Ajah (Eti-Osa LGA), and Boglo (Badagry). She talk say mobile clinics go visit each area three times weekly to do consultations, treat common sickness, manage chronic wahala, do lab tests and give drugs. Any serious case wey mobile clinic no fit handle, patients from Agboyi Ori-Omi go get referral go Mascara PHC, Ketu or Gbagada General Hospital free of charge. Zamba still announce say Governor Sanwo-Olu don approve free health insurance for 5,000 residents of Agboyi Ori-Omi under di EKOSHA Rural Health Scheme, and registration don start immediately. She urge di people to own di project, noting say even remote areas deserve better healthcare like every other Lagosian. Di scheme, fully funded through di Equity Fund (one percent of Lagos consolidated revenue), go change health access across rural and riverine areas, boost Lagos image as model for inclusive healthcare.
