ICAN Dey Celebrate Global Accounting Day

Di Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) don join millions of accountants around di world to celebrate International Accounting Day 2025. Di South-West regional celebration hold for Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, wey bring together ICAN members, students, and academics to hail di role of accountants for promoting accountability, transparency, and good governance for both public and private sectors. Di immediate past ICAN president, Chief DCS Alaribe, talk say accountants na “unsung heroes wey dey behind financial stability of businesses, governments, and communities.” E also remember say di profession start since 1494 with Luca Pacioli’s work on double-entry bookkeeping, wey form di foundation for modern financial management. ICAN President Mallam Haruna Yahaya hail di 67,000 members for professionalism, integrity, and commitment to excellence, while also praising global accounting bodies wey dey raise governance standards worldwide.

Di Dean of Management and Business Studies, Dr Fadipe Adeniyi Olubunmi, express joy say YABATECH host di 2025 celebration. E talk say 80% of di lecturers for Accountancy Department na ICAN fellows, and two students don already qualify as ICAN members while still in school. Dr Fadipe also hail di Rector, Dr Adedotun Ibrahim Abdul, for linking academia and corporate sector through Linkage Directorate. He highlight say YABATECH win second place for regional competition, collect N150,000 prize, and some students don do industrial training for Japan, showing di college dey gain global recognition.
