Senator Austin Akobundu, wey be chairman of di committee, give di assurance during di security summit for Enugu yesterday. Di summit carry di theme: “Strengthening Nigeria’s National Security Architecture: Innovation, Collaboration and Resilience in a Changing World.” NAN report say stakeholders from traditional and religious institutions, President-Generals of communities, security agencies, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, civil society, and political office holders all gather. Akobundu talk say National Assembly go continue to push inter-agency collaboration among security agencies, and promise say di resources wey needed to bring South-East back to peace, progress and prosperity go dey properly appropriated and released as e due. E thank security agencies, religious leaders, traditional rulers, media and other stakeholders for dia efforts, and salute frontline officers as “our greatest assets and heroes” for di war against extremism and criminality.

Akobundu explain say di Senate decide to organise di National Security Summit to tackle Nigeria security wahala head-on, and give Nigerians, especially those wey dey directly affected, chance to contribute solutions to di lingering insecurity. E talk say years of efforts from stakeholders never yield results as di security crisis dey worsen, traumatising whole communities, displacing people, abandoning farmlands and disrupting schools. E warn say poverty, hunger, disease and illiteracy dey rise because of di attacks by non-state actors wey don leave di region bleeding, with people killed and properties destroyed. E add say Southeast schools no dey see enrollment or performance again, as sit-at-home order every Monday and use of violence by some agitators don damage di region’s economy. Speaker of Enugu House of Assembly, Uche Ugwu, describe di summit as chance to listen, understand and find di root cause of insecurity, stressing say government, communities, security agencies, traditional institutions, youth groups and civil society must collaborate with sincerity and courage to fix di crisis.
