Lagos State Task Force Chairman, CSP Adetayo Akerele, don vow say dem go intensify arrest and prosecution of all traffic and environmental law breakers for di state. Akerele yan dis one Tuesday during stakeholders’ meeting for Safety Arena, Bolade, Oshodi, wey market leaders, transport operators and artisans join. Di meeting, wey dem call “Promoting Safety and Serenity Through Traffic and Environmental Best Practices,” come as Lagos dey face plenty wahala from Okada menace, drug abuse, one-way driving, traffic indiscipline, and criminal activities. Akerele yan say di state government under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu dey serious to stop dis kain wahala and everybody must join hand to make communities safe.
Akerele also remind residents say Lagos State Environmental Reform Law 2017 and Transport Sector Reform Law 2018 dey enforce zero tolerance for Okada for highways, one-way driving, illegal structures, street trading, shanties, and all activities wey dey affect urban safety. He urge everybody to report any wrongdoing, illegal developments, drug addicts, cultists, street urchins, or illegal ticket issuers through di agency headquarters or by calling 090137555111 and 090138555111. Stakeholders like National Road Transport Workers Secretary, Olanrewaju Majekodunmi, and Oshodi-Isolo market leader, Sikirat Socopao, yan say dem go continue sensitising their members to restore sanity for Lagos roads and markets, even as traffic violations and illegal settlements dey put pressure on di state’s transport and environmental systems.
