Masqueraders’ Festival – Police Nab 12, Halt ‘Stay Indoors’ Order

Lagos State Police don arrest 12 people wey dey linked to posters and handbills wey warn di public to “stay indoors” for planned Egungun festival for Oregun area. Di flyers, wey supposedly from “Di Oje Parapo of Oregun,” talk say nobody suppose dey outside from 10:00 pm to 4:00 am on November 27 and 28, 2025, as traditional rites go dey around Oregun at midnight. Lagos police spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, talk say di notice dey restrict people freedom of movement, expression, and dignity, and confirm say Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, don suspend di festival to protect public safety and maintain law and order.

Police warn say no group suppose take law into dia hands to stop Nigerians from moving freely, and anyone planning unauthorised gathering wey fit threaten peace suppose desist immediately. Adebisi add say security for di Oregun Egungun festival no fit be guaranteed, so di event must no hold.
