“Do Wetin Dem Elect Una For” – Obasa Tell Lagos LG, LCDA Chairmen

Speaker of di Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr. Mudashiru Obasa, don charge di chairmen of di 20 local governments and 37 local council development areas (LCDAs) for di state make dem deliver on wetin people elect dem to do and give better life to di people wey dey grassroots. Obasa give dis charge on Thursday for one summit with LG and LCDA chairmen, vice chairmen, council leaders and majority leaders wey dem hold for Lateef Jakande Auditorium, inside Lagos Assembly complex. E warn di chairmen say make dem no neglect their responsibility, as e talk say poor performance for local level na wetin dey make people no too dey vote again. As Obasa talk am: “Make una no just dey office for eight years without doing anything. Serve di people wey vote una, because na dem give una power. No amount of money go fit save una after office if una no deliver.”
Di Speaker remind dem say Lagos Assembly don already pass important laws wey go help make local government work well, including di ones wey establish LASIEC and auditor-general office. E tell di chairmen make dem build better council chambers and give di councillors everything dem need to work well, talk say “Councillors na una partners, no be una boys.” E still talk say make dem dey work together, collect ideas from their team, and dey talk well well with community leaders, artisans, traders and youths, say local government no be for big people alone, but for everybody. Obasa suggest make dem start better things like poverty alleviation programmes, build maternity centres, parks, and sports facilities, and make dem dey show people wetin dem dey do. E still talk say dem go organise seminars for councillors and chairmen to help dem sabi governance well, and say Lagos West go divide into four to do this one. In response, di chairman of Conference 57 and Ibeju-Lekki LG boss, Mr. Sesan Olowa, promise say dem go cooperate well and work with stakeholders to bring real development come di grassroots.
