Former Minister of Defence, Prince Adetokunbo Kayode (SAN), don urge FUTA graduates for Akure, Ondo State, make dem no rely only on di certificates wey dem collect from school, but make dem also acquire skills to become self-reliant. Kayode yarn say young people suppose dey digitally literate to follow di global technological trends, while delivering convocation lecture for FUTA 36th ceremony on Friday. Him advise say youths no wait make institutions provide everything, but make dem actively seek online courses, boot camps, apprenticeships and free practical trainings on platforms like YouTube, Coursera, LinkedIn. Him add say if person get di right skills, employers no go even dey ask for certificate, and youths fit even become employers demself. Digital literacy na must for all degrees, and e go help dem scale up for creative, industrialised, and technology economies for Nigeria.

Kayode, wey be former Minister of Labour, also call on government to integrate Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) into national curriculum to give am degree-awarding power. Him add say federal and state governments suppose increase budget to modernise TVET centres for all 774 LGAs and incentivise private sector to fund skills training through tax breaks and partnerships with schools. Meanwhile, FUTA Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adenike Oladiji, disclose say 2,747 students don graduate, with 240 of dem finishing with first-class honours, 1,479 with second-class upper, 912 with second-class lower, and 116 with third-class honours.
