Lagos State Government don beg residents make dem collect planning permit before dem go build any property. Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, talk this one during public awareness programme wey dem hold Thursday for Ojo. Dem invite community leaders, residents, and stakeholders from areas like Ojo, Badagry, Iba, Oto‑Awori, Amuwo‑Odofin, Oriade and Olorunda. Olumide yarn say permit no na small thing, na law, e dey help make building safe, and if building collapse, e go affect people and government. He add say property wey get permit dey worth more and easier for loan or embassy verification.

He warn say anybody wey build without permit go face strong penalty — four times normal charge — and maybe demolition if building no okay. He also beg people to avoid bribe practice, say staff don train make dem handle things professionally. Olumide mention say once all requirements complete, permitting process go take only 10 working days. On amnesty, he say last one end December 2024, and new request don go governor.
