Di coroner, Magistrate Atinuke Adetunji, wey Chief Coroner of Lagos State Judiciary assign, don reveal dis for a letter wey dem write to Falana & Falana Chambers. Di inquest na result of formal request from SAN Femi Falanas law firm urging di Chief Coroner make dem do full investigation into di tragic September 16 incident. Di coroner go also give recommendations so dat dis kind crazy thing no go happen again.

The law firm by a letter dated September 29, 2025, signed by Taiwo Olawanle, cite Section 15 of Lagos State Coroner’s Law 2007 to demand the inquest. Di letter talk say “10 people lose their lives in di September 16, 2025 fire at Afriland Tower, victims include four FIRS officials and six workers of United Capital, trapped in di six‑storey building after thick smoke engulfed di premises.” In response dated October 6, Senior Magistrate Adetunji say di case don assign to Coroner Court 9, Igbosere District, sitting at Court 4, Yaba. He state say Preliminary Meeting with all parties go hold Tuesday, October 14, 2025, 9am, for Court 4, Yaba Magisterial District, depending on convenience and attendance of all parties.
